In Memoriam: Peter Brotzmann (1941-2023)

We are sad to learn of the passing of German saxophonist and free jazz pioneer Peter Brotzmann, who died at his home in Wuppertal earlier this week. I am grateful to have had the opportunity to record Peter several times in the greater Chicago/Milwaukee/Madison area. His strength, professionalism, graciousness, and grit were unmatched, (even when extending a solid grasp to keep me from toppling off a stage during a frantic set change). Thank you for the music.
