06.05.2015-  Evans, McPhee

Recorded the opening set of Okka Fest 7, featuring the trumpet duo of Peter Evans and Joe McPhee at Sugar Maple in Milwaukee.

06.05.2015-  Bishop, Lonberg-Holm, Lytton

Recorded one set of the trio of Jeb Bishop (trombone), Fred Lonberg-Holm (cello/guitar), and Paul Lytton (percussion) at Sugar Maple in Milwaukee, as part of Okka Fest 7.   

06.05.2015-  Kessler, Ra, Rempis

Recorded a set of Chicago’s own: Kent Kessler (bass), Avreeayl Ra (percussion/flute), and Dave Rempis (saxes) at Sugar Maple in Milwaukee, as part of Okka Fest 7.

Rounded out the first night of Okka Fest 7 by recording a set of Johannes Bauer (trombone), Tim Daisy (drums), Helen Gillet (cello), and Mars Williams (reeds/toys) at Sugar Maple in Milwaukee.

Recorded the Palm Tavern set to open up the second day of Okka Fest 7.  Percussionist Paul Lytton was joined by violinist Mat Maneri for brief solos and a duo. 

06.06.2015-  Haker Flaten, McPhee

Recorded the duo set of Ingebrigt Haker Flaten (bass) and Joe McPhee (trumpet) back at Sugar Maple for Okka Fest 7 in Milwaukee.

Day 2 of Okka Fest 7 continued as I recorded the trio of Jason Adasiewicz (vibes), Helen Gillet (cello), and Mars Williams (reeds/toys) at Sugar Maple in Milwaukee.

Recorded a set of Jeb Bishop (trombone) compositions, while he was joined by Russ Johnson (trumpet), Jason Roebke (bass), and Frank Rosaly (percussion) at Sugar Maple in Milwaukee, as part of Okka Fest 7.

Wrapped up the second night of Okka Fest 7 by recording the quintet of Jason Adasiewicz (vibes), Johannes Bauer (trombone), Jeb Bishop (trombone), Ingebrigt Haker Flaten (bass), and Frank Rosaly (percussion) at Sugar Maple in Milwaukee.

The “Decepticons” opened Sugar Maple sets on the third day of Okka Fest 7.  I recorded Jim Baker and Joe McPhee in an electronics duo.

The next set I recorded during Okka Fest 7 at Sugar Maple in Milwaukee meshed percussionist Paul Lytton with a string trio (Helen Gillet-cello, Ingebrigt Haker Flaten-bass, Mat Maneri-violin).

Okka Fest 7 continued by recording a set of Vox Arcana (Tim Daisy-drums/marimba, James Falzone-clarinet, Fred Lonberg-Holm-cello) at Sugar Maple in Milwaukee.

Recorded two sets of Marquis Hill’s jazz and vocal project at The Whistler in Chicago.  Members of the ensemble included: Marquis Hill (trumpet/compositions), Bryan Doherty (electric bass), Tumelo Khoza (spoken word), Christopher McBride (sax), Makaya McCraven (drums), Magan McNeal (vocals), Joshua Ramos (bass), Justin Thomas (vibes), and Keith Winford (MC).

Recorded two sets at The Owl in Chicago.  The first set featured the trio of Joshua Abrams (bass/clarinet), Jason Adasiewicz (vibes), and Jim Baker (ARP/viola).  Halfway through the set, they were joined by David Boykin on reeds.  During the second set, Boykin and Avreeayl Ra also played percussion.
