11.20.2015-  Reed’s Flesh and Bone

Recorded the full premier performance of Mike Reed’s “Flesh and Bone”, a composition reflecting on matters of race and identity, as inspired by his band’s encounter with a neo-Nazi riot in Europe in 2009.  The concert was documented at the Art Institute in Chicago, featuring Mike Reed (drums/compositions), Kevin Coval (spoken text), Ben LaMar Gay (cornet), Tim Haldeman (tenor sax), Jason Roebke (bass), Jason Stein (bass clarinet), Marvin Tate (spoken text), and Greg Ward (alto sax).

Recorded an extended set by The Thing (Mats Gustafsson-reeds, Ingebrigt Haker-Flaten-bass/electric bass, Paal Nilssen-Love-percussion) at Constellation in Chicago. Prior to the performance, writer and music critic John Corbett spoke, highlighting concepts from his newly released book Microgroove: Forays Into Other Music.

Recorded one of the performances of the 2015 Latino Music Festival at the Logan Center for the Arts on the University of Chicago campus.  Featured musicians were Ernie Adams (percussion), Alejandro Acierto (bass clarinet), Elbio Barilari (electric guitar, reeds), Guillermo Gregorio (clarinet), Gustavo Leone (ARP synthesizer), Julia Miller (electric guitar), Rollo Radford (electric bass), and Frank Rosaly (percussion).
